Privacy Policy

Version 2026-06-12 · Last updated 12 June 2026 · Governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

The short version — for kids

We keep your first name, your login code, your chores and points, and any photos you choose to send to prove a chore. We don’t show you ads and we don’t track you. A grown-up in your family set this up, and they can see and delete your stuff any time.

1. Who we are

HabitHero Kids is operated by Aspect Digital Media (ABN 13744989316) (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Australia. For privacy enquiries or complaints, contact us at support@habitheroapp.net.

2. What we collect

HabitHero Kids is a companion to the paid HabitHero app. In the free Kids app we collect, about each child:

We do not collect a child’s surname, date of birth, email, address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or device identifiers, and we use no advertising or analytics. The parent’s email is collected only in the separate paid app.

3. How we collect it

A parent/guardian provisions the child’s profile in the paid HabitHero app and gives consent there. The child then enters chore activity, and optionally takes a photo, in the free Kids app.

4. Why we collect it

Only to run the app for your family: to show and approve chores, award points/XP and rewards, let a parent verify a chore via optional photo-proof, and keep accounts secure. We do not use this information for marketing, profiling, advertising, building products, or training models, and we do not sell it (APP 6).

5. Disclosure and overseas access (APP 8)

We store data in our own Google Firebase project hosted in the Australian region (australia-southeast1). Google operates Firebase (authentication, database, functions, file storage) as our service provider on our behalf. Google is headquartered in the United States, and Google personnel located overseas (including the United States) may access the data to provide and support the service. We do not otherwise disclose children’s personal information to any third party. We remain accountable for this information (s 16C).

6. How we keep it safe (APP 11.1)

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is controlled by Firebase Security Rules that scope each child’s data to their own family; the economy is server-authoritative; uploaded images are restricted to the owning child; and administrator accounts use least-privilege access. We never display children’s data on a public web page.

7. How long we keep it, and deletion (APP 11.2)

We keep a child’s profile and chore data only while the family is using HabitHero. Photo-proof images are short-lived — they are removed once the chore is approved/declined. A parent can delete a child (or the whole family) at any time; deletion is a genuine, permanent erasure across our database, file storage, and the child’s sign-in account. We delete or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.

8. Accessing and correcting information (APP 12 & 13)

A parent/guardian can view, correct and delete their child’s information directly in the paid app, or by contacting us at support@habitheroapp.net. We will verify that the requester is the child’s linked parent before acting, and respond within 30 days.

9. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first at support@habitheroapp.net and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.

10. Consent and parental responsibility

Because our users are children, a parent or guardian provides consent when they create the child’s profile in the paid app. They confirm they hold parental responsibility for the child, choose whether to enable optional photo-proof, and can withdraw consent at any time (which disables collection and triggers deletion). We record the consent (who, when, the policy version, and the photo-proof choice) and ask parents to re-confirm periodically and whenever this policy materially changes. We tell the child, in plain language, that a grown-up set this up for them.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will update the version above and, where required, re-notify parents and seek fresh consent before the change affects a child’s information.

12. Automated decisions

HabitHero does not make any legally or similarly significant decision about a child by automated means. Awarding points/XP for completed chores is a simple, transparent rule, not a significant automated decision.

This policy is written to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and is designed with the “best interests of the child” in mind ahead of the Children’s Online Privacy Code.
